I Need … Something

I love winter but I’m starting to get bored with all of this indoor activity. The gym feels blah, watching movies feels blah, the daily grind is getting to be blah. Sure, I have some exciting things happening in the kitchen but even that is blah.

I need a new environment, something refreshing and new and snowy and different. Yesterday was an example of the kind of winter day that depresses the hell out of people and, well, it got to me. I can’t stop thinking about our Colorado honeymoon in a couple of weeks because I need some action, people, and I am totally prepared mentally, physically, AND my dear friend Kacey lent me all of her ski gear, including a helmet and SOCKS, so I’ll be properly attired as well. BRING IT!

Last night, Matt and I were discussing what parts of the wedding we were looking forward to, you know, trying to stay positive, when he said, “Marriage is just an excuse to go on vacation.” He’s totally right. Oh, and we are looking forward to the following things:

  • Hors d’Oeuvres
  • New York Strip
  • Champagne
  • Seeing friends
  • Being Married (kind of the point)

Yeah, that’s about it. The closer we get to this wedding, the more we wish we had said, “Fuck it” and gone to Mexico like we wanted. At the time we got engaged, my family had suffered the loss of both of my grandparents and my uncle, I’m the only girl grandchild, and felt like I owed to them. Well, I’m over that now but it’s too late. I suppose I can look at this as the last big thing I have to do and then I’m freeeeeeeeee.
