Things I did today

  1. Taught a 6 a.m. Spin class.
  2. Made a breakfast that included unsalted almond butter. I didn’t know it was unsalted, and it was terrible.
  3. Threw breakfast in the trash and sliced up some bananas and fried up some eggs.
  4. Watched Matt pull away on his motorcycle. It was 66 degrees today.
  5. Did some laundry.
  6. Took an intensive five-hour, at-home study course about the energy systems and earned some continuing education credits for my certification. RAWK!
  7. Watched a metric ton of BodyPump education videos and learned quite a bit about technique and how to help people perform better lunges.
  8. Did some more laundry.
  9. Watched Diesel watching all the birds in the yard. The holly berries are dried and dropping and it’s a buffet out there! He was in pounce mode for a solid three hours.
  10. Ate a pear outside on the front stoop in jeans and a sweater.
  11. Walked barefoot to the mailbox. In February. It was 66 degrees today.
  12. Baked and ate some kale chips.
  13. Prepped pav bhaji with chicken and brown basmati rice for dinner. I also made mango lassi. Yum.
  14. Used the leftover chicken to make this amazing bit of awesomeness, then immediately subscribed to her bog via my Google Reader.
  15. Took a couple of pictures of Diesel crashed out after hours of watching birds.

Don’t be fooled by his cuteness, only moments later he was all up on the kitchen counter, licking the chicken salad every time my back was turned. Menace.

Tonight, Matt and I are going to (hopefully take a walk if he gets home before it gets dark/too cold) stay in and watch The IT Crowd: Season 4 on Netflix Instant. I’m also going to have a piece of dark chocolate and a glass of red wine. I’m two weeks into no sweets and it’s working out pretty well. I’ve found the following food stuffs to be quite helpful:

  1. Dark chocolate. Thank you, Ghirardelli, for selling your intense dark collection in a lifetime supply size bag. I appreciate having a variety of percentages to choose from without having to worry about running out.
  2. Clementines, with their high glycemic index, easy to peel and quick to eat, awesomeness these babies sate the sugar demon inside of me in a healthy way.
  3. Agave nectar. I’ve taken to putting just a little of this in my afternoon tea, as well as in my smoothies and lassis. Lassies? Lassii?
  4. Bosc pears with cinnamon, walnuts, and honey.
  5. The occasional fruit juice spritzer (100% juice and Perrier).
  6. A daily glass of red wine.
  7. Dark chocolate, but I might have mentioned that already.
