I used to fall asleep with the TV on, usually Nick at Nite. Well, I fell asleep one night while Watching Who’s the Boss and then had a VERY explict dream about Tony Danza. And by explicit I mean I woke up and was like, “Whoa. Um. Did I just cum in my sleep?” Then I rolled over and went back to bed. No big deal. I woke up the next morning and began working on a poem. I’m still working on it a year later. It has, um, potential:
Having Sex With Tony Danza in a Dream
Angela was having a party with all of her friends
serving watercress sandwiches, tea, baklava, red jello.
She spoke of marketing, Jonathan, loneliness.
Her desperate laughter racing up the steps to where
Tony and I were fucking each other’s brains out in her dimly lit yellow bedroom.
When it was over, I rose, walked to the bathroom and washed my hands.
A dormitory-style bathroom where a bleach-blond walked up to me and said,
Was it good? We always dream that it will be good.
So my roommates at the time thought it would be funny to buy me an 8×10 glossy photo and put it in a frame. They presented it to me with laughter and tears and I promptly put it in the window of the common area, facing out. Well … I moved into my new apartment this year and one of the first things I did was, yup, you guessed it, put it in the window of the common area. About a week later I was walking past the window and noticed that the guys who live in the apartment across from me put this picture in their window. I nearly lost it. Ahh … the jokes.
By this point, you should know where I am going with this.
So Matt and I were walking back from our walk (awkard) yesterday and he said, “What’s in the window up there?” and points up at the apartment above mine and low and behold this picture was taped to the window!!! I looked over at the building across the way and noticed that in the upstairs window someone had taped this picture!!! I called up to Mike because his window was open and apparantly the kids had been up in the common room windows for a week and I didn’t even notice!
I did a little happy dance! There is really no particular reason that this whole thing started. I put the Tony Danza picture in the window just to fuck with people but now it’s funny as hell and really warms my heart that these kids all have a sense of humor. I really can’t explain the way it makes me feel. I guess “warm and fuzzy” (to use a cheap literary co-out) would be the best way to describe it.
